Nathalie McCubbin is a women’s knitwear designer exploring new techniques and applications on existing wovens or creating the fabric from scratch, in the form of knitting.
‘My fundamental inspiration for my collection ‘Skin on Skin’ comes from a fascination with dusty colours and feel: layered designs with muted shades of lavender and pale blues in soft knitted and woven fabrics complement the feminine body.
A combination of clever pattern cutting, open side seams and movement of the body reveal hints of skin to flaunt the real beauty of the women.’

Following Nathalie’s concept, we photographed her collection and designed a lookbook that communicated her design principles in a simplistic and stylish way. We chose a range of paper stock that matched the swatches of her pieces but opted for the subtle and pale shades to avoid interfering with the clothing. These are used to introduce each new look throughout the book. The transparencies show the close-up detailing of the clothing but allow for a glimpse of the full look image underneath. This relates to Nathalie’s pattern cutting to reveal hints of skin.
